About Sam

I am an actor, dramaturg, producer, and founding member of New Brooklyn Theatre, a socio-political theatre company where I currently serve as the Artistic Director. I work bi-costally in theatre, film, and mixed-media, having had a strong background in physical theatre, dance, and movement training.

From the age of four I grew up in the theater, going on to train in two conservatory programs: the Experimental Theatre Wing at NYU Tisch, and the two-year Meisner program with Terry Knickerbocker at the William Esper Studio. At its best I believe that acting is a craft that has the power to heal and reveal us and the mysterious world we live in. I’ve worked at organizations including The Public Theater, The Cherry Lane, Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, The Ontological-Hysteric, The Lark Play Development Center, New Dramatists, McCarter Theatre , The Irondale Ensemble Project, The Riant Theatre, the Times Square Arts Center,  Ars Nova, The Wild Project, and Theatre Row.

When I’m not on set I spend my time working for several local and national animal rescue organizations, and am gradually earning my degree in Veterinary Technology to better serve in my volunteer work. I collect and commission art, tinker shamelessly on instruments to the distress of my neighbors, and continue to accumulate a library that is slowly taking over my house. I enjoy travel and outdoor adventures with my two four-legged daughters, Maizey and Hucklebee.
